A fascinating machine. Walking excavator.

I was watching Mega Machines the other night and they had on there a type of excavator I have never seen before. I thought it was absolutely fascinating. It is a walking excavator by Terex, the HS41M. It can go up hillsides up to 70 degrees! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif It was really cool to watch the operator use it. I wouldn't want to use one though. One false move and I would be tumbling down the hillside! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif The picture on Terex's website does not do this thing justice. The only thing I can recommend is watching out for reruns on TLC (or is it Discovery? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif ). I'll provide a link to the Terex site. The Terex is a rebadged Scheaff. (sp??)

That is pretty cool. I thought you were going to show a walking dragline used in stripmines. They were pretty cool too, not sure if they're still in use or not /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yes, we use walking draglines here in Florida.

That looks like a Menzi Mucker. The county I live in owns 4 of them. They use them for "clean" out drainage canals, steams and creeks.

I watched the operator walk it over my fences and all around the stream on my property.

Menzi Muckall, Schaeff, Kaiser,and EuroMach all make a similar walking excavator Menzi was the first to do it in the early sixties. Neat machines and I cant wait to get into the cab of one. I know where one is at that has a bad motor, I happen to know of a good motor on the cheap side.
