Sorry, for the late pics. I had to have oral surgery that did not go exactly as planned, but everything is much better now. I purchased a bush hog 7 foot cutter that will only be used to mow some lots 30 miles from the house once or twice a year at most. Easier to transport on a trailer. Also , got some pallet forks.

I have since had them order the creep kit for the tractor to make it easier on me when the wife is helping me attach equipment. She has almost got it down, but I would like a slower attack speed for her.

She has really done well to go from hst to power shuttle. She likes her tractor now, but felt overwhelmed in the beginning just by the sheer increase in size and horsepower from our 5740.

We have 28 hours on it and 1 regeneration. Fuel usage has been about 3/4 gallon an hour. Lot less than the 5740. Able to mow thicker stuff quicker and a lot easier.

I have since added our hyd top link, and the dealer will add the 540/1000 rpm pto kit and another float valve when the tractor goes back for the creep kit install at 50 hour service. We also put a cat 2 quick hitch on from Tractor Supply.

Congratulations on your new tractor, very nice indeed. I have occasionally thought about the creeper kid for our M8540 and if you don't mind what is the total cost?

My wife drives our L5740 occasionally, but has no interest in our M8540.

Congrats on the purchase, she's a Beaut!!!

My wife struggled with the transition from an L series to an M also. She rarely gets on the M and then it's only for simple tasks. She calls it The Beast. I love it.

TripleR has the best of both Worlds since he has both an L and an M.

I added triple rear remotes, 3rd function on the loader, tip/tilt and 540/1000 rpm PTO to mine after purchase. I thought I might be overkilling the options a bit. But after a year and 450 hours I would not eliminate any of them.

Couldn't tell much about your cutter from the pic. Hopefully it's a heavy duty outfit with a high HP gear box. If not, be cautious about it. Your tractor will spin it like it's not even back there and will easily destroy a 50-60Hp gearbox if used hard.

Good luck with the purchase and am sure you'll enjoy it!!!

The creeper kit was $955.00. It will be much easier hooking up equipment for her and me. I won't have to worry about her lunging backwards unexpectedly . We sure do miss our l5740 and wished we would have kept it too.

It is a medium duty cutter with a 80hp gearbox, and yes I agree you can't even tell it's there. It is only used to cut grass at some lots that we own 30 miles from the house. No heavy bush hogging. I only got it because it was easier to trailer and he made me a deal I could not turn down. I'm shopping for a batwing right now and have posted pics of one I'm looking at in another thread. I wish I would have added the 540/1000rpm pto, creep kit and another float remote when we bought it. I would not had to have paid labor to have them installed then. Oh well, live and learn.

Thanks, we wanted it when we bought ours along with an air ride seat, cast centers and a couple other things, but we were in the middle of a lot of work when our Case CX80 went toes up for the last time and could not wait on the modifications. We have learned to live without them, but may spring for the creeper kit some day.

I got tired of running tractors between farms and got to the point I couldn't run an open station, so I moved our MF375 to another location and bought the GL after getting the 8540, never seem to have enough tractors, we traded one in once and wound up buying it back.:eek:

A forum member contacted me about it when I posted I was trading it in. I sent him pics and he bought it from my dealer and had it shipped to Oklahoma. My dealer made him a good deal as he did not have to keep it on the lot and I got a good price as well. He actually had it before I took delivery of our new tractor.

Sorry to hear that, but I'm not surprise, good used tractors sell really quickly here. I bought my used L5030 HSTC from the dealer before they even had it prepped and out for sale. When I traded it in on my L5740HSTC in a couple of days I got a call from a man who just happened to be passing through with his wife and she noticed it sitting out back and wanted to buy it. After I assured him it was in excellent condition and why I sold it, he bought it. It is living several hundred miles away now out of reach.

Good used tractors are hard to come by and sell very quickly. Congrats on new tractor by the way, wish I had enough land to justify one that big

Sweet! I managed to keep our first tractor when I bought the new one earlier this year. So glad I did! Even thinking about adding a third to the barn next year.
