'97 Foreman 400 no spark

My foreman all of a sudden stopped running. After a month of checking, testing and reading I replaced the voltage regulator and now all is good.
I just wanted to share this as it might help someone else.

There is an AC sensing wire that is attached to the voltage regulator that is also wired to the CDI box. they CDI receives this signal to tell it the engine is cranking. What happens is the voltage regulator shorts out and grounds the AC sensor wire and the CDI can't get the signal therefore no spark.
