955 Won't Start

I have a 955 tractor that will not start with the key anymore. A neighbor came over and jump it from the starter post to where the solenoid plugs in. It then fired right up. Key is in the run position and I turn it off with the key. I went and bought new ignition switch (32.00) from JD and this did not fix my problem. Is this a solenoid problem? Any tips or past experiences?

Check the neutral safety switch. Remove the center floorboard panel and you will see the wires running across the top of the hydro trans from the left side of the tractor to the switch on the right side of the hydro trans. Find the connector in the wiring harness for the switch and check it to see if it is loose. If not, unplug the connecter and use a temporary jumper wire to replace the switch. If the tractor starts with the key then the problem lies in the neutral switch. Either replace the switch or adjust the linkage as necessary to properly engage the switch.
