Does anyone have a suggestion on how and where to mount a tool box on the 790? It doesn't have to be a real big one, just large enough to hold some of my precision tools like a big hammer and a big crescent wrench, plus a few others.
Thanks, Bill

Hi, I would get the tool box off the old 70 series and mount it on your 790. There used to be a toolbox kit for the 70 series but it id no longer available. You can still order the parts though. The kit was AM11620 but you can use the parts catalog on JD's website search under 670, 770 and it will bring up the 70 series parts then go into operators station and you will see the # for the toolbox and attaching hardware. I want to do this to my 990 when it comes in also.

I am not sure if it can work on the 790 but is should since it is just like a 770.

A picture of how it is mounted to the ROPS.

I sprayed the inside with paintable rubberized undercoating.

Bill,
Mounted my toolbox on my 790 on the right hand fender. There were rubber plugs there for a handle, but no handle. Drilled 2 holes in the bottom of the metal toolbox and mounted right to the fender. Works great, and has been on for 2 years.

Smilinggreen- we're neighbors... I'm north of Lebanon, near the river.
Quick question, I thought about mounting a small box on the right fender of my new 790, in the same manner in which you did, but was concerned about too much weight on that fender... I have R-1's, and there isn't much clearance. How much would you guess your toolbox weighs, and what kind of box did you mount? Any problems with weighing down that fender?
We might hafta get together for a cookout and a pull-off one of these days. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

C1,
Toolbox weighs around 15 to 20 pounds with all my junk (bolts, nuts, washers, lynch pins, hammers, big cresent wrench, fence pliars, chain vise grips, etc) and I don't have any problems with the fender sagging. In fact, when using the FEL for long extended periods of time, it makes a great elbow rest, which is then holding my head up, also!!!! I think I got the toolbox at.....hmmmm, I think it was TSC.
Yup, I live out in the TXR (Tuckers Crossroads) area, off Sr141, about 2 miles from the Smith County line. You must live up near my ex!! /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif I am up your direction about 3 times a week. I mow a repo house for one of the Lebanon Banks on 231N. just North of Philidelphia road. Got another customer up on Cedar Grove Road, and one on Hamilton Chambers Road. Ya, well have to get together some time. Who did you buy your 790 from?? Roland Implement or from Richard down at Wilson tractor & Turf?? Talk at ya later.

C1,
I think I just answered my own question. You bought it from Roland. I just saw your response in another post. Who sold it to you?? Mike Marks?? Roland will bend over backwards to help you in any way possible. I did not buy my 790 from him, but he sevices it just like I did. In the past 12 months, I have bought a JD 757 ZTR mower and a JD HD45 mower from them. Just saw Mike today. I stop in there about once a week...just to say hey or pick up some oil and filters, blades, grease...or something.

Sorry it took so long to get back in here- I neglected to mention I was headed out of town for three or four days.
I did indeed buy from Mike, and man, was I impressed. You are right on, the folks at Rowland get my vote hands down. Now, that's no slight on any other dealer here, I haven't talked to anyone else who sells Green tractors here. Mike and the guys made my first tractor purchase painless and effortless. They have helped me with answers several times already, and I'd send ANYONE who asks straight down to Rowland Implement.
Man, you are all over my area. We'll hafta meet up some day when things slow down for both of us.
Thanks much for that information, I'm headed into town tomorrow on a few errands and will have to explore this further.
Stay Safe!
