What kind?
Cypress, white oak, overcup oak, pin oak, shagbark hickory.
Only took about 10 hours.

Did you plant them into the weeds and such as it looks or did you till the ground previously? Are you going to leave them grow wild or maintain them as a farm?

Tree planters are great if you have a helper. My county has one they rent out as a service to the Soil and Water conservation for the county. They sell trees at reduced rates, rent the planter and give free advice to county residents about planting and maintaining trees.

Good for you, Bill. This world needs more tree farms, farmers around here keep pulling them out, planting more corn and then wondering why all this water is standing in their fields.

We planted a Cypress last fall (southern Wisconsin) and the winter killed it. Beautifull trees, wish we could have some.

The ground was so wet the weeds gave some traction. I mowed between the 10' rows after planting. It's low ground,it's nice, soft, and rich. The tree planter plows a 14" furrow, you set the trees, then two wheels at a 45 angle closes it back. I will mow for a couple years to give the tress a good start. Yes this is a ag program.

I'm in central Illinois, and just about as north as you will see them. About 70 mile south of chicago.

What the hey? At least you got a great crop of dandelions.;)

Cyprus grows here, but they seem to require more moisture at least in the beginning. I've seen a lot of them that dry up and die within two years.
