Also tested removing honeysuckle bushes. I was very impressed how the bar grabs the bushes and rips them out by the roots. Makes quick work of the invasive beasts!

It sounds like your property is infested like mine! :(

Are you saying that the PTB will actually grab the "trunk" of the honeysuckle and rip it out or are you having to go below the surface of the dirt to do it? I'm trying to get this stuff out without tearing up the topsoil too much. I've considered just about all options for pulling this stuff - ranging from the Rachet Rake to the PTB to a conventional tooth bar to a root grapple. The cost of the PTB is really appealing and if it grabs and pulls without having to "dig", then this may be the ticket.

How big is the honeysuckle you're able to rip out? I have stuff ranging from pencil thin to 6'8". Most of it doesn't get over 2.5" or so in diameter. Will the PTB rip that size out pretty well?

It's also good to hear from someone that owns both the RR and the PTB!! I hear great things about both of them but it's rare to hear from someone that actually has both. Can you go buy a conventional tooth bar too? I'd like to know how that stacks up against the honeysuckle too!

I'd love to see a video of the thing in action against the honeysuckle!! Or some before and after pics.

THANKS for posting your review!!

That's the ticket, I know where there are some trailered 10KW military gensets coming up on auction frequently.

Yes sir... Tons of honeysuckles! )0: On two farms!

The Piranha will grab the honeysuckles without digging into the dirt. The teeth bite into it. The smaller trunks (size of your finger little finger) may or may not catch. But something the size of your thumb or bigger will. At least from what I've seen so far. Only have about 10 mins pulling honeysuckle so far. Remember also my tractor is around 5500 lbs so it's fairly powerful. I was removing honey suckle in 2wd though! They have a fairly shallow root system even on the larger plants.

So far I prefer the piranha. It's seems to do well at pulling honey suckles and is excellent for digging dirt, etc. The RR must drag the ground to remove the honey suckles. This also removes all other vegetation. Which can be a good or bad thing depending on your application.

I'll have to see about posting a video. That would be fun. Just need the time to do it. This is a very busy time of year.

Oh... And a conventional tooth bar is not going to pull the bushes... So you can rule that one out . (0:

Ripping out a bunch of honeysuckles this evening with the Piranha. I'm really impressed.

The teeth bite into larger trunks and rip out the roots and all. Also you can skim the bar on the ground and it will generally tear out the small (size if your pinky) stuff too.

In about an hours time I made a brush pile about the size of two full size vans. And I was working near a fence so it was tedious.

Sorry no pics. I was having too much fun to stop and take some. For the task of ripping out honey suckle I certainly prefer the Piranha over the Ratchet Rake!

Both the RR and Piranha sound like great tools. From the design, it seems the Piranha would need to be removed far less often - and it does at least "some" of the same tasks as the RR.

Guys don't forget if for some reason you wanted to fill the drilled holes in your bucket you could fill them pretty quick with some 7018 or 7014, and smooth them with a flap wheel, shoot a little paint you would not even know it was there. My Kioti has 4 holes in the side too, and I don't have a clue why they are there either.

My Kioti bucket has several holes pre-drilled along the cutting edge. My only guess is Kioti makes a bolt-on for the bucket. Yes? Tooth-bar or something else?
