72\" MMM

Kubota page lists the RCK72 as being "drive over". Does that really mean you can drive over it to mount it instead of sliding it in from the side? Why is it only the 72" that allows that?

Also, do 72" decks show up used very often?

I'm zeroing in on buying a tractor and am finding this group invaluable in reaching a decision.

Yep, that's what it means.

Re: 72\" MMM

How long does it take to attach the mmm? I'm getting the B7800 and was going to get the 72"mmm but my brother in law said it takes too long to attach and detach the mower, so he recommends the rear mower

Re: 72\" MMM

I have the 60" MMM for my B2410. I doubt there is too much difference in the process to put on / take of the MMM. On a nice flat concrete pad it takes me under 5 min to put on or take off....but I need my FEL to lift the front end. If I was doing it again....I honestly don't know what I'd pick. MMM or rear mower. They both have good points!

Mark
There were a couple of 72" MMM mowers on EBay last December. They went for a lot less than what a dealer wants for them. I have not seen one this year yet.

Here are a couple of threads on that model mower.

Re: 72\" MMM

My only experience with a 72" deck was a Woods deck with a Yanmar 240 tractor. This deck was a drive over because it was too large to slide through the space between the front and rear wheels no matter how you angled it. It took no longer to connect than my newer Kubota 60" MMM deck on my B2100. The only downside to the Woods deck was that it took a second person to help keep the deck centered when driving the tractor over it.

Re: 72\" MMM

Hi Mark,

I have a B2910 with the 72"MMM, and yes you can drive over it to install it, but there are a few preliminary steps to take. First you have to raise the 4 wheels so that the mower deck is as close to the ground as possible, then you have to chock the wheels so it doesn't move when you drive over it, then when you get it installed you have to put your wheels back in their previous position. I'm sure others will say that none of this is necessary, but if you want to keep from bending your vertical axles for the wheels, it's a very good idea.

I just use the front end loader to raise the tractor, then slide the mower deck under the tractor, raise the loader, and hook up the mower. Be very sure you get the pto shaft securely hooked to the tractor, or you can do a lot of damage very quickly. Then I have to remove the loader before mowing. Without a doubt a RFM is quicker and easier to install, but for my situation a MMM works better for me.

Re: 72\" MMM

I have the B-7800 and the 60" MMM (for shed clearance reasons). It is not a drive over type but is very easy to remove. I bought the tractor in November and had to remove the mower for winter. I had it off in about 5 minutes and it was my first time. The FEL is a definite help raising the front end to slide the deck out. I was also suprised at how high you could lock the mower deck up while using other 3ph implements. There is quite a bit of clearance under the deck. Just remember in order to make the 72" mmm drive over, it is quite a bit heavier. My 60" deck weighs around 350 pounds which is plenty to pull on by yourself.

Re: 72\" MMM

I have a B2910 with the 72" MMM. This is one of the best designed disconnect systems on the market. I can take the MMM on or off in less that 5 minutes.

The only problem I have is moving the mower deck around. It is a big and heavy deck.

The other thing that I am amazed at is the quality of the cut. I also have a ZD21 pro deck machine. This B2910 MMM will match the quality of the ZD21.

I do not drive over the deck for installation. I raise the front of the machine with my loader and roll the MMM under the tractor. Where i have difficulty is rolling the deck in the grass because of its weight.

Let me tell you, this is one great tractor/mower deck combination.

Great threads. Thanks for the links.
I'm negotiating on a used tractor now. Will post successes, lie about failures.
