I have an 1988 J.D. When I start it, the motor runs good, idles and revs up just fine. while running for a minute or two the motor will shut off, I can let it sit for a minute and it starts again and seems fine, only to have it shut off again. I just replaced the fuel pump and filter hoping that would cure it. I also bleed the fuel injectors, I'm thinking it might be the silinode on the injector pump? I'm thinking of draining the tank just to make sure there's no restriction.

Many of the folks on here having similar problems have found fuel line restrictions of some type somewhere in the low pressure supply side.
I'm thinking your fuel injection pump needs to be rebuilt. What happens is the flexible ring that holds your governor weights to the shaft is deteriorating. If you pull the little side window off you should she small black rubber "dust". What happens is that clogs the return fitting on the pump. If you pull the fitting out of the top of the pump you might be able to knock the ball out of it and it might run a while longer.

I agree that the start/die is a classic symptom of the governor ring deteriorating. The fitting that the return line attaches to on the top of the pump is probably stopped up with debris. I've seen them cleaned out and engine will run for a while but inj will eventually need repaired. The fuel shut off solenoid is part# RE37089 but I seriously doubt that it's at fault.
