Have been thinking about upgrading to a bigger machine for a few months now. I currently have a Mahindra 3215HST TLB, and was going to pursue a 5035HST TLB. Talked to a local dealer yesterday and he's made me a very attractive offer on a 7060 TLB.

I've looked around the forums and haven't seen much dialog. Was wondering if there are any good/bad stories about this platform.

Curious to know about your owning/operating experiences.

Appreciate any and all opinions, advice, and suggestions.

If you search for anything to do with 6520s or 7520s, they are the same platform as the 60 series machines. The 60 series are the updated versions, but the layouts are basically the same. I happen to have both a 3215 and a 7520, biiiiiiiiiig difference between them. If I were you I would try to keep the 3215 and get either the 5035 or 7060.

I started out with my 7520 and ended up getting the 3215 to get into small tight areas and to do my fence lines. You don't just look over and see the edge of stuff when you're on a bigger tractor.

Good luck with your decision, you won't go wrong with either of the bigger tractors. ;)

That's a good observation in regards to utilizing the 3215 for the small work.

We're in the middle of remodeling a 120 year old family farmhouse. I bought the 3215 for just the purpose of doing the smaller/tighter jobs (new gas line, new underground electric line, barn stone retaining walls, couple smaller foundations, french drains, field drains, etc.). After 4 years, I've pretty much worked through the list of smaller projects, and am now faced with some larger projects. In particular, I'm trying to reclaim a 70-foot diameter pond that has filled in with silt over the past 40 years. I pulled the breast works out about 2 years ago with my 3215, and am now ready to start moving dirt. I know, I know - i should just hire an excavator. But....I figure that I might as well put that money towards a larger TLB, and do the job myself. At the end of the day, I'll have the pond done, and have a new machine to boot.

Also, my wife's grandfather is doing the farming right now with an old 674 International - which, I'm suspecting isn't too long for this world. So, I'm going to be counting on this machine to mow fields, make hay, and do some of the utility work.

Overall, this machine is going to be called upon to do everything from move dirt to make hay.

All that being said, is this platform up for the challenge? Or, am I asking/expecting too much out of the 7060?

On a separate note, the 3215 is so narrow, and has such small tires, that I don't feel overly comfortable getting off the beaten path. We live in Western Pennsylvania, which is largely characterized by "rolling" hills. Our farm has more hills than flat land. The 3215, with Industrial Tires, has performed exceptionally well where you've got to get in close to a house, or have to go through the yard. It will get the job done, but won't tear everything up.

I would pass on the 7060 and go for the 8560, much better tractor IMO, more power, more hydraulic flow. By chance are your tires on the 3215 filled? I filled mine almost right away, makes for a much better working tractor. When you get a bigger tractor, I would for sure fill the tires. I have all 4 filled on both of my Mahindra's. More pulling power, a lot more stable on hills. ;)

I have over 600 hours on my 6520 4WD with Bradco 511 backhoe. I love the machine:D, but wished I would have bought the 7520, or 8560 now:(, like MtnViewRanch mentioned above. Way more hydraulic pump GPMs. I have to run my 6520 wide open to get max use out of the backhoe. That is just 11.2 GPM pump. I think the 8560 has around 17 GPM hyd. pump. Not to mention a 2 speed PTO.

Just an update...

I did sell my 3215HST - fortunately I sold it one day after listing it.

I then purchased....

7060 12x12 Shuttle Shift
ML272 Front End Loader w/Quick Attach Bucket
511 Backhoe w/24" and 16" buckets
Tires Filled with ~78 gallons each of Rim Guard
Kodiak 8-foot Heavy Duty Rotary Cutter w/chain guards
Purchased separately a 52" x 66" fiberglass canopy w/ 4 additional work lights

I was originally looking at a 5035, with a similar setup. However, a dealer in my area was coming to terms on the 7060 and was willing to make an attractive offer on the machine to get it off his lot.

The new "red monster" will be here next Friday (3/9).

What I learned in this experience:
1. MtnViewRanch and bindian know what they're talking about, all advice is right on the money.
2. Enormous difference between my 3215 and the 7060. Not even close.
3. Will likely sometime down the road be in the market to purchase a ~50hp 2-wheel drive for more of the utility chores.
4. Am going to have to make a lot more room in the barn - soon.

Will post pictures of the new machine next weekend - Can't Wait!

Farmerboy,
Beef up that loader bucket with an angle welded on top. I bent mine and welded 3/8th inch angle on top and 3/8 inch plate on the sides.

If it isn't too late to get more included in the "tractor package", get a Bradco thumb for that backhoe. I have the manual thumb and it is worth it's weight in gold back there. Eventually I want to make it hydraulic. Bradco has kits for both. The 511 backhoe already has the mounts for both kits.
hugs, Brandi

Congrats on your new tractor-it looks great:thumbsup:
Mine is a 2008 Mahindra 5525 with the ML250 FEL.

YOu probably can find a good late model 50 hp tractor for under $10K on eBAy.
