7060 R1W tires

Finally received a quote for a new 7060 today. One thing I asked for was the R1W tires that come on a 20" front wheel and a 30" cast rear wheel. The very first question I asked the saleperson was if the fronts are adjustable. He responded that they were, but after cruising through a bunch of posts with pics on here, I don't think that they are. I stole a couple of pics from another thread to add to the confusion.


Anyone know what size tires these might be? They look adjustable.



I believe these are the 20" wheels that come with the R1W wheels, and they don't look to be adjustable.

The standard sized "pizza cutter" front tires are supplied on two piece wheels that can be adjusted for width.

The optional metric sized tires are supplied on one piece wheels that can be adjusted into only two positions by moving the assemblies from side to side.

Unlikely.

The rear tires can be adjusted quite widely.

If you go that route,,, and since the salesman has told you they are adjustable,,, nail him if they aren't. Might even remind him again that he said they were.

Doing a grader deal with a tire issues. Specifically emailed the salesman so I have his "promise" in writing.

Saw one with cab and metric radials at dealer this morning.

Rear tires were adjusted fully inward. Front one piece wheels were as shipped (most narrow of two positions). Outside of front tires was about even with outside of rear tires.

Front tires can be adjusted to most wide of two positions by moving to opposite sides but rear tires can be adjusted outward more than this difference.

The 20" R1W radials have pretty well been standard on M series that size in Canada since the 40 series. I test drove an M5040 a few years ago that had the 20" radials dished out to the wide position and they rubbed on the Kubota (Orange ALO M loader) mounts on a full lock turn.

PDI includes inspection and readjustment of the steering stops after installation of optional equipment, e.g., FEL, and tire width adjustment. Such inspection should include interference inspection including full steering lock at maximum axle oscillation but many (most?) dealers do neither.

Tractor in question was a used one that just came off the truck on trade, they had only drove it off the truck and parked it. They told me same thing you did and it could be fixed, so if steering stops resolve that, great, just be aware your turning radius might be affected in the wide position. PO must of just flipped the rims to make it wider and did not so anything else.

Agreed.

One of the things that I do after taking delivery of a new tractor is to check the steering stops. Usually, I can turn both sides in substantially even after checking for interference with FELs, brackets, etc. Doing so decreases turning radius but requires the front of the tractor to be lifted with FEL, jack, etc., to fully oscillate the front axle.

Manufacturers usually ship tractors with the steering stops adjusted conservatively to avoid interference regardless of what options the purchaser specifies.

Of course, this must be re-done if the front tread is subsequently changed.

They offering a second radial now with a lower profile larger rims Goodyear and has a tread pattern with more in the middle so they smoother on the road and lower profile makes less choppy, but will hold less fluid

I believe the website was $53,xxx, and the dealer quoted me $48,200.

No cab. MSL FEL, 3rd function, 3 rear remotes, cast iron rear centers, triple rear weights, 1000lb front weights. Very well equipped.

Hmm - - the picture shows that there is only two settings. Dish in - dish out. The front rims on my 2009 Kubota M6040 have the same ability to be adjusted as my rear rims. There are eight differing settings. I have my rear rims set out to the max and fronts are at a near neutral setting.

My tires are OEM - six ply - bias - Titan/front - Firestone/rear.
