Funny you should mention that fact. Just today, I went to Tractor Supply Co. and bought myself a galvanized metal chain rated at 15000 lbs. The guy there laughed when I showed him the rope someone there sold me last week. He told me the chain is strong enough that the tractor will lose traction or power or both before the chain breaks. The thing weighs a ton, but like you, I was worried that the rope would break and kill me or one of my dogs.

So, I take my chain and go down to the pond, only to realize that the remaining posts can be pulled out by hand. Sad! I wanted to use that chain.
