All 3 of our 7.3's have over 200k miles and my buddy has 2, both also over 200k. His f250 and our Excursion are around 267k. So collectively we have well over a million miles between 5 trucks.

Great motors... and I just like the superduty looks.

Our Excursion is up to 282k now, and my buddy is in the process of having a rust free georgia truck shipped to him... '03 ext cab long bed w/ 7.3... 380k miles... needs a trans but got a he!! of a deal on it.

Loadstar: is the center broke out of that flywheel?

Yes, split all the way around the crank bolts. A real treat to troubleshoot if you have never heard that noise before. I'm glad I'm a troubleshooter and not a parts changer or it would have been more than a $77 fix. Still ran and drove just made a heck of a racket. About a 5hr job

I've heard it sounds like a couple dozen 1/2" bolts inside a rolling metal 3lb coffee can... luckily I've never heard it!

The problem is that a broken flex plate is rare enough that I'm most instances you don't even consider it.
Nice troubleshooting. Definitely saved a ton.

Looked back and thought I'd dig this thread up. It was a trip down memory lane on truck goals. Lots of maintenance and parts since thread started haha. Tossed in some sort of recent pictures. Upgraded on coolant side with a stainless T-stat housing a coworker built me, also put a dieselsite coolant hose on my IH water pump(great fit). Pinion seal was leaking which I figured was due to a little pinion walk. So a friend and I did a total rebuild on the rear which included a crush sleeve eliminator and a true trac. Truck can really pull hard off-road with loaded trailer. Love the true trac. Other upgrades since this thread started were intake, exhaust, various deletes, and a hydra. Picture of truck is on cave in rock ferry.

See now when I read this, PSD did not come immediately to mind. Our (now sold) 1993 7.3L IDI did however

Update on my 7.3's...

My early '99 lost compression on one cylinder in the spring of 2015. Truck sat for about 2 years while I talked my buddy out of the motor I had pulled out of the '03 truck from Georgia, (as we had put the lower mileage drivetrain in that rust free chassis) and bought about $1k in parts to rebuild the turbo, new up pipes, oil pan, lots of gaskets and o-rings, and a new clutch. About a year of now-and-then tinkering, and I finally got the 378k mile motor in my 212k mile truck about 3 months ago. Put about 3k miles on it since, running good.

The Excursion rolled over 300k about a month ago. No issues... thing runs like a champion, is the easiest starting truck we have.

I traded my 2000 dually cab n chassis truck for a '02 F250 extended cab long bed with more miles (340k) and alot more rust, with the only goal of getting another 6 spd truck. It or my '99 will donate their drivetrain to my latest project, building an extended crew cab short bed truck. I traded an ATV and old motorcycle for a gas motor 2000 f250 crew cab to donate it's cab and frame to the project.

I'm "holding" my 7.3 - 6 spd F-450  but I think my 350 4wd crew 8' 7.3 is going on c/l. It has about 180k and looks very good rust wise. Paint could use some love, it was my work truck since new. Run's fine on heating oil too! I just have a hard time selling it for under $15k knowing what the new one's cost.

94 F-250 XLT Factory Turbo IDI. A mile or two over 160,000
It's said I will never get there first with it, but I will always get there.
Never going to let it go!

Great to see so many 7.3/7.3 Powerstrokes still being worked. Way better choice than the epa crap these days.

Ha, my 450 is licensed & insured but mostly used on my large property. It's been running on #2 heating oil for about 7 years now:D

Had to tow my '99 home 2 weeks ago. I think the 6 speed but the dust. Hopefully I can pull the pto cover off this weekend and verify. Tired of putting money in it.

Ouch...

I ran my 6spd dry for about an hour at idle after the motor swap, drove it about a mile at 15-20 mph... I hope it doesn't suffer the fate of yours. Ive put 4k miles on it since, and no scary sounds... But I've got a another truck waiting to supply parts, including trans.
