Ahhhh heck, the picture didn't post above. Here is the truck described in post 67

To be honest it really is not that expensive. Ford reman is in the 3k+ range and it is NOTHING like a BTS. If you go there Brian and his crew will do the install for basically nothing and it will be right. He builds the trans in front of you and in my case entertained alot of questions. This trans cannot be called a rebuild because it is all new and custom parts except for the case. He takes about half of the new Ford pump parts and throws them out in favor of custom parts. And he will more than likely buy you lunch. Brian and Patti [his wife] are great people. As far as his warranty, I was one of the few that had a problem. His first question was "are you still running" and the truck was just the converter [not his parts] was messed up [dragging] so he sent me a new trans/converter/oil cooler and oil on his dime with no confirmation other than my word. THEN wanted to pay for my time to install it. So no worry about him standing behind his work. CJ

On the back of the intake manifold.
Thanks , checked all of the glow plugs ,and all check good , power at controller but no trigger signal.
checked the dash closer and the truck has a momentary contact switch , that had no power to it , fixed that and it's a running 7.3:thumbsup:
The charging system still has a problem, found an open in the main output wire from the ALT to main start solenoid -fixed that but still no charge ( owner probably ran it that way and damaged it...) will have it tested and go from there (could still need a regulator)
Thanks again at least she starts and runs now...
I have done that a few times, after spending a couple of hundred $$$ for that stupid controller a pushbutton switch and solenoid your good to go. CJ
Jeepnford said:I have a 2001 crew cab six speed with about 170k miles I bought new. I started cutting wood a few years ago and that's taken a toll on the bed, along with rusting at the rear fenders. It used to get 18-20 mph empty but the last couple of years it's been more like 12. It's hard to start when cold, tested all the glow plugs and related parts good and I'm starting to wonder if I have some weak injectors. I was thinking of getting a new gas super duty but am not convinced I want to spend that kind of money and get rid of this truck.
Put some fresh injectors in and fresh glow plugs while your there.
