Well, after thinking about it for a year and casually looking, I finally traded up to the 790.
This one is used but has only 24 hours on it.

Got the 419 loader (which is quite massive compared to the 670's #60 loader). Contrary to many posts, this loader has more breakout force then the 70 loader and at ~ 60" height lifts more then the 70...at max height, it lifts less then the 70, but has over a foot more lift.

Good enough for what I'm going to use it for.

Can't say I was as excited as when I got the 670...my first tractor. But, I'm glad it's here!

Now all I need to do is figure out how to get it in the garage. The ROPS is about 6" taller then the door opening. There is a way to adjust the door so it opens higher which should give me ~2" of clearance.

Anyway, the 670 was a fine little machine...I'll miss it. But I'm happy as all get out with that (practically new) 790 setting in the driveway.

Just think of ll the research you can do! Now you will be an even better supply of helpful advice (if that is possible!)

Lotsa Luck, Roy!

Roy, I would take a little less lift capacity for greater lift height. Sounds like you got a great tractor setup. My neighbors JD790 is certainly holding up very well. Other then a couple of dents he put in the front grille, it looks brand new. I was suggesting he make his own grille guard. It would have to take into account the removal of the loader. For it's size, it certainly has plenty of power. Last week I let him run my 84" finish mower. It worked great, he's now all anxious to eventually get a finish mower to replace his Bush Hog brush mower. Rat...

Congratulations:

Did you sell the 670 outright or trade it on the 790?

Enjoy your new ride.

Thank you all for your kind words!

It was a trade on the 790. Made out pretty good..depreciation over the last 2½-3 years was about a thousand bucks.

Just cut the lawn with it...boy! now I need a bigger RFM! That 60" Befco just barely covers the tracks of the 790.

I'm also surprised how stable it is on my side slopes. I thought I'd have to relearn my sense of "tiltiness" since this machine is a good 6" taller (at the seat) then the ol' 670. Not so, however. This machine feels pretty solid.
I guess it's all that ballast in the rear tires. Of course, one does not want to become complacent!
I did drop the loader off...pretty easy, but no easier then the 670 was. I do like the grill guard, but it'll have to be unbolted to service the battery.

I'll have some pics in a day or so...

Congratulations - That truly is a stalwart tractor. I'll have to get pics of my Father Inlaws ROPS on his 1050 - He cut it lower and welded it together again - then to a front section for the rops - so the endproduct ends up looking like something from Mad Max.

I"m anxious to see your grill guard Roy as I just added another dent to my grill working a brush pile last weekend. It's definitely in need of some additional protection /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Roy, Congratulations on the new tractor. I know from reading your posts through the years that you were happy with the 670, I hope you will be as satisfied with the 790.
I know that feeling about the thrill you get from your first tractor, etc. I bought a ATV last winter, hardly rode it until just recently. Almost forgot that had it! When I bought by first one, ( a much smaller, less featured one), I rode it, washed it, and just sat it the garage looking at it for the first few months I owned it! Anyhow, congratulations again.
Will
