656 problem

Fella's, really could use some help here. Seems like some smart fellows on here.
My 80 year old Dad was brush hogging with my 656 IH Farmall and it quit moving in any gear. It would start to move ( tire would roll a 1/4'') then stop, TA has been out since we bought it 16 years ago. Being the half *** mechanic I am, got it home broke it apart assuming pressure plate was out and my full *** car mechanic buddy was with me said hey there's nothing wrong with the clutch or pressure plate. I would really appreciate any advice.

So is your 656 up and going again?
The new upgraded TAs are dependable and make that a good working tractor for not a lot of money.

I removed the clutch housing after determining the clutch and pressure plate were ok? Dont know how to tell if the TA was the problem. No where near going again.

You didn't lose an axle drive key by chance? I had that happen on an 830 Case once. Figured out what had happened when I could brake one side and it wouldn't move but if the other brake was held it would move. The axle was spinning in the wheel hub, but if that brake was held, it transferred the power to the other wheel, and it would move.
