62D MMM Level Question

I took time this morning to verify and adjust my 62D MMM to make sure it was level. Using the manual, I made some slight adjustments to make sure the mower was level (or within the allowed distance) from side to side (blades positioned at 3 to 9 o'clock - assuming the front of the tractor is 12 o'clock) and front to back (blades positioned at 12 to 6 o'clock and measured at the front of the mower)

My problem is that the blade on the Right hand side when positioned from front to back is ~3/4" higher in the in the rear than in the front. The left hand blade is about the same height front to back. the manual said it needs to be within 1/8" of each other (front to rear).

I verified that the front support is correctly adjusted and both adjustments are equal (as the manual said).

Is this something I should worry about since the blades on both sides are very close to the same height when measured at the front?

I'd be curious about that blade--are you sure it isn't bent? When doing the side to side measurements--or front to back for that matter--do they change if you rotate that blade 180 degrees? Since you have gone through the effort, you might as well make sure that all is OK and not some bent spindle or something else.

I just sharpened the blades when I put them on but I didnt specifically check for a bent blade.. BUT I did stack the blades on top of one another to move them and I didnt notice anything odd..

How would I check for a bent spindle?? i am going to clean the underside of the deck this weekend, so i will see if I can tell anything when I get it on its side

That is what you need to do. Mark the blade tip, and rotate it 180* so you are checking the same tip front and back-then see what your results are.

If it is 3/4" out in the same tip, I would try another blade. If that one is 3/4" out the the spindle is likely bent

I would make sure the spindle is clean and the blade is on properly. Once after sharpening the blades, the deck was cutting bad. The blade had grass between the blade and spindle. Caused by the owner not looking when reassembling.

Good suggestions so far:
- bent blade (check same tip by rotating 180)
- blade to spindle assembly (can easily not have blade on spindle properly)

Under normal mowing conditions spindles don't bend. If you do encounter an obstacle you could potentially bend the slindle pocket in the deck where the spindle mounts. If you do decide that is your issue you can shim and/or pound the deck shell back into shape. Hope your good with a sledge hammer and a block of wood.
