I don't know if they have a gas without road taxes but for my diesel anyway it's a good 40-50 cents cheaper a gallon because it is for farm equipment and you don't need to pay any taxes on it. :D

/ 620i vs 850D questions #42
If I was using the XUV for farm use only.
I would only have the diesel.
Someone could make some money if they came up with a clutch enclosure for the diesel.
I've heard that its very difficult because of the flywheel?

if someone was close enogh to me and had a deisel hpx or xuv i would be happy to make one but there is no around with one my feeling is where there is a will theres a way. and if it's made out of iron i can make it. so if some one is close to me and has a deisel unit i will be glad to give it a shot all i need is a test unit.

any truth to the rumor that JD may release the diesel version with the olive 'trail' color scheme?

/ 620i vs 850D questions #46
Vics,

The plan is that the Trail Gator in diesel trim will be out late summer. That is the latest I have heard. Seems like a good idea. Either clean or dirty they look bad to me. One of the guys in the JD shop at my dealer has a gasoline XUV. It looks dull and about 20 years old, even though he washes it weekly and it has 25 hours on it.

if you wanna keep your plastic lookin new just spray it down with son-of-a-gun tire cleaner and then wipe it down it will leave a oily film on it and leave it nice and glossy.if you just wash it and dry it the plastic will fade and then become dry and eventualy crack after time.plus as long as you have a little oily coat ont it the mud don't stick so hard to it and it cleans up easier.

That is a good idea. Furniture polish also works well or any spray wax, particularly on color-impregnated plastic panels. Unfortunately Tommy all the Son of a Gun in the world will not change that stomach-churning trail gator green. Some people like it, but I do not know who they might be.

If they do come out with a diesel trail XUV that pretty much mean they have to have a clutch enclosure... Hmmmm... :D

Crap I need a new car though...

/ 620i vs 850D questions #51
it wouldn't be a trail gator if it didn't have a enclosure . but hey look they are selling the xuv's without the skid plates.i mean engine protection plate.but hey atleast they might have one.lol now do you need that new car.lol.

I love the Army green myself. Thats the only color I will own unless they go camo. I like the JD greene but it is more noticable in the woods. I like being able to blend in.
(As far as stomach churning.Thats un adult-like! I think the poster that made that statement needs to get a grip. Everyone has different taste. Thats what makes us individuals)

I'm retired military and I happen to adore the olive drab color. :p

that's why this country is so great.......because people have choices......jd green or olive and black. i wanted my xuv to blend in as well and not be so noticeable.

Skip,

Easy on the perseveration!!! I do not like the color, not the motive. The un-American thing about the olive drab is that John Deere's are supposed to be green and yellow, always have been and always should be. As for SPcarves, I like you even if you have a olive Gator. You are from Oregon, as is my wife. I like people from Oregon. It is not up to me, but if it were you can still post here as much as you like. And truth be known, the first Gator I brought home to test on my property was: olive green. I did not get contact dermatitis or anything from it!!!

Not liking the color is fine. As for JD's being green and yellow. I like a green and yellow tractor but I like red ones too.
My utv's I prefer to blend in with the enviroment.
The stomach-churning statement was uncalled for and (lets go with) un adult-like~!

/ 620i vs 850D questions #58
To all posters in this forum: the intent of the "stomach-churning" comment was to be taken "tongue in cheek." I am a sensitive, adult poster who is mature at least to his years. I mean no ill will to any person or persons who have chosen and decided that the aforementioned "olive drab" color is their color of choice. I think the XUV Gators are great machines, regardless of their exterior finish. I am fully aware that certain scenarios call for a degree of stealth only provided by a dark green color. Under the skin XUV Gators are all the same. I do realize this fact. I also can assure each and every one of us that I am fully an American and that I appreciate the differences in taste we each have. I hope that this comment suffices to quell any concern that I am insensitive or close-minded with regard to the color in which someone chooses to purchase his or her Gator utility vehicle.

I have the traditional John Deere green and yellow xuv. I like the olive color also, makes it look military.

Skip I will post some pics tomorrow at work where I have a better photo program to shrink the files if I can figure how to attach to TBN.
I will also try to post some pics of where I work. I maintain aircraft (mostly warbirds) for a private individual. I will try and get a pic of the xuv and the P-51 together.

Just post the pics using photobucket.com. They automatically resize the images to 800x600 and do a good job of it.
