I'm trying to decide between the 620i and 850D. I've driven both but probably not long enough to come to a strong conclusion either way.

What are your thoughts....pros and cons of each?

Thanks!

i don't have iether i have a hpx but to me if your not gonna do a real lot of mud riding i would go with the 850d.

Thanks. I don't plan to do much, if any mud riding. Just driving around the acreage on dirt.

The diesel I drove felt like the powertrain engaged more smoothly than the gas version. Is that typical?

As expected, the diesel was louder than the gas when it first started, but how about when its warmed up, which one do you think is quieter, or at least more pleasing to the ear. The salesman said customers think the diesel engine is a little 'better sounding' than the gas version.

Speaking of fuel mileage, are there any estimates out there for how much fuel each version burns?

yea you get atleast a few good days of really good memories to the tank with both models . but really the carbed gas hpx gets really god gas mileage so i would imagine the efi xuv's would do even better.

Look on the JD site. I think the diesel gets double what the gas does. I use a tank in less then a week on my diesel HPX. Then again I have over 500 hours on mine in about a year.

I get about 8 to 9 engine hours per fill with my gas XUV. Mileage I couldn't tell you.

Im in the same boat. I even went to Goodridge farm Equipment today fully expecting to buy a gas xuv. When I got there was walking around and my wife out of the blue asked what about the diesel gator? That did it!!! Back home and back to try to decide again. Tom the sales guy just laughs and says "let me know when your ready" Mike

If you go through water or snow the diesel will not perform as well as the gas.
My brother has the diesel and it is a fine machine.
I have the gas model and I can go through water above the floorboards with out any problem.
Try that with a diesel and your belt will slip, and it will cause premature belt failure~!

It can be above the floorboards it's just going to take a little longer. But if you ever really expect to be doing that and you don't have a good reason to go with diesel for god sakes get the gas already.

Will you order one, or do they have the one you want in stock? If ordering, how long are they quoting for delivery?

Hey vics, they do have one in-stock but its a demo. I will order one and they told me 3-4 weeks. Im getting the JD green 620i with a bed liner and one of those slip over covers, also the front reciever. My bid came to $9689 including 8% tax. Mike

The drive delt, for the cvt transmission~!

Okay thanks, I guess that has to do with the open clutch design on the diesel model that some posters mentioned? I'm a newbie to these utility vehicles, so this is all new to me.
