hello new jack here, I am looking at a early 80,s case 580c, my question is can the backhoe be removed and a brush hog type pto mower be hooked up? he is asking $7500, says it smokes when first started in cold, couple of pistons need to be repacked, I have 55 acres and am looking to putz around, replant trees, shuttle dirt and rocks, etc what do you think, thanks for your opinions and help.

Even if there was a rear PTO shaft on it, I would guess it would be kinda
hard to connect because there's no 3 point hitch.

Most "real backhoe loaders" have neither of these.

A 3pt hitch was an available option but it would be cost prohibitive to add now.
You'd need to have the frame that the 3point mounts on, the links, and the 5 or 6 lever control bank. They have a built in top and tilt. The add on pto was hydraulic. I dunno if any of these parts are still available outside of service items like the hydraulic cylinders... You can look at the parts books and diagrams on CNH.com/.

Looks like a pretty good tractor. I don't remeber if the C series got the 188 case or the 207 case. My 580D smokes a little on startup and it's newly rebuilt. The cylinder seal kits are only about $20ish. Takes about 1-2 hrs if your first time. Less with practice. I'm currently doing this on my D. One down and one to go. I'll post some pics when I get em out of my camera.
