The clock is already metric

When I bought materials in 55 gallon drums, the only price that mattered, was per gallon. Anyone who is at all interested in the bottom line is going to be watching that.

The products I bought in 55 gallon drums, actually came in between 52 and 53 gallons. This was primarily to allow for thermal expansion. Like any product, they could decide to decrease this amount any time they wanted, and hide a price increase.

We have not converted to the metric system, because we don't want to. Anyone who does, can do so tomorrow. Nearly everything you buy already has metric weight or volume on the label.

We already have converted to the metric system, we just hide it.

An inch is now defined as 25.4 mm.

A gallon is defined as 3.785411784 liters or 231 cubic inches (bit since inches are defined by mm, it is same thing).

It is ?

I thought the whole idea behind metrics was easy multiples of 10.

Hows that work with the clock ?

Generally I hate metric, an age thing I guess. (I'm Canadian)
In carpentry/construction 90% of materials are still in inches/feet however I did get to appreciate metric when I was building stair cases.
Ever so much easier to calculate in metric as your calculator when you divide the total height by number of steps gives results in inches and a decimal and not fraction.
With metric you simply cut what your calculator gives you using your metric tape measure.

The big challenge is reading gov't plans! They only use metric and general housing industry is still in ins/ft.

Survey is another thing yet. feet, yards,sq meters, acres, and sq ft. and then there is arpents and the odd old survey may have rods and just for fun they often throw in chains.

Dont forget tenths and hundredths of a foot.
