Oil & Fuel 5200 Hydro Probs

Hey guys. Im new here. Hoping to get some info. I have a 97 2wd John Deere 5200 with a 520 loader. My hydraulics are jumping and act like they are going out. I have around 2400 hours on the tractor. I am assuming the hydro oil has never been changed. I am wanting to try changing oil and filter before going into the pump. I have the new filter and about 8 gal of oil. The guy at the dealership said there is a screen that needs to be cleaned tho. I cannot find it anywhere. Can some one give me a idea where it would be? A pic would be awesome.

Yes, there is a screen. A good idea to have (or get) the operators manual and the service technical manual for your 5200.

Also, you can go to jdparts.com and see the breakdown of all the parts for your 5200.

Hopefully those 2400 hours were not all without a hydro oil and filter change at some point, as well as the screen cleaning.

Here is what the screen is like (from the jdparts.com site) ... held in by two cap screws and toward the rear.

I am guessing it is like my 5210 the pickup screen is located by the PTO shaft. Standing behind the tractor it is to the right and held in by 2 bolts. See attachment for a picture from the 5210 operators manual.
