It's my understanding that the park is a pin that goes into a hole to keep things from rotating. It sounds like it might be binding, are you parking on a hill?

Hi, I have an extended warranty on this tractor so called the local JD dealer to come out to see what the problem is. This tractor has the power reverser transmission. The problem was water down in where the shifter goes into the transmission. The water froze so the shifter would not move. The rubber boot had a hole in it that let the water in. I felt really stupid as this problem was so simple. The tech got all the water out and replaced the boot and all is well.

Ah yes: DAS BOOT!!
I've had to replace both of those. The "gear shifter" and the "range shifter" boot. So check the other side too if applicable.
Did water get into transmission/hydraulic oil?

No water in trans. Checked the range boot and it's good. I'm going to watch them from now on. Thanks,
