Test drove a 5065e today. In "A" range the 2-R clutch less shuttle shift worked flawlessly. In "B" range it would not engage (latch in slot) and if forced gears would grind without clutch. How is it supposed to operate? I read on tractordata.com that shuttle shifts are available in all 3 ranges. Shuttle means no clutch, right? Is this an easy adjustment?

No, on a shuttle shift it needs to be clutched to change gears.

Ok. If the sync-shuttle allows forward shifting on the fly, using the clutch , what function is the shuttle performing . The sync reverser transmission description says shuttle shift only between 2-R; must stop to change to higher forward gear (like 1-3). I guess the shuttle handles synchronization only between 2-R. The sync shuttle has the additional benefits of up shifting without stopping using clutch . Basically you must use clutch for all shifts but don't need to stop unless changing ranges . Can anyone explain the no grinding , smooth as butter , shifts from 2-R in A range? Gears turning so slow they would not grind?

The slower that the gears are spinning the less likelihood of grinding gears on a shift.

So if the sync shuttle allows for up-shifting w/o stopping (like 1 to 2 to 3), compared to the sync-reverser which does not (only between 2-R), the shuttle must be performing a synchronization that is unique to rolling in one direction (say forward) and being able to move gear selector to reverse gear w/o grinding? I would think if you must depress clutch anyway when shuttle shifting between 2-R, there is no way it could grind anyway. I am just a little confused to exactly what the shuttle is doing when comparing the sync reverser (which requires you to stop to change to a higher forward gear) to the sync shuttle (which lets you "shift on-the -go" while moving forward?
