Is anyone that has a 5045 not happy with it ?
Sorry folks , should have said 5045E , im looking at one with r4 tires , I now have a 4300 fwd with r4 tires & fel, that I got new in 2000 , its got 1500 hrs on it and is fine a fine tractor for what I needed then and now to tell the truth , but me got to looking around on the JD page and spyed the 5045E and the price and oh yeah the 0 % . This is more of a want then a need for more hp and weight , the dealer offered me 9500.00 for my tractor w/430 loader which I thought was fair but wanted 22500 for the 5045 w/ rear tires loaded w/beet juice .
$22,500 is with a fel I hope. The reason I say that is because my 2008 5203(one size up from a 5103/5045) was only $19,500. The 5103 MFWD was 18,500.
RollingFarms , 22500 was the price for just the tractor with the tires loaded , msrp on the JD web page was 22600 , fel was another 6000
So, your dealer is offering to drop a $100 below the JD website MSRP? Let's see... say $500 to load the rear tires - that makes it around $600 below the MSRP - that's right at 2.6% below MSRP!
If this was cards -- I'd tell that dealer - go fish...

Yeah, didn't sound like a good deal to me either. I suspect the dealer isn't giving him the best price due to his trade in. When we got the 5045e the dealer didn't discount it as much as others, but he did give an excellent trade on the 4400. It was equipped with loader, MMM, power-flow grass catcher, and JD 516 bush hog, 1800hrs, in fair condition, gave us $18,000 trade in for it. :confused2:
yeah dealers are different. mine won't take trade-in on used impliments(ie your JD 516 bush hog). when I traded in my previous tractor I had to sell the disk and bush hog myself.
Sorry it took me so long to get back, the internet in this area has been down for a few days .
Thanks to everyone for responding !
AKfish , that was my thoughts , I didnt know how much it was to load the tires , was thinking 500 , got a price on the phone from another dealer the next day , everything the same 1000.00 less , so I called them back and ask if that was their price with a trade, he said yep , but who knows he might offer me 1000.00 less for mine.
Verticaltrx , my 4300 is a gear tranny , do you think the 55 or 65 hp would not be as sluggish ?
Im thinking now I will keep mine for a while , maybe try to sell it then go with no trade in , again Thanks to everyone !
I have also been considering getting a 5045e, I went to the dealer today, and looked at one.. Do you think it will can handle heavy red oaks, pulling them? Was it the low end torque that seemed to lack? It is the low end torque I am looking for, do you think the 5055e.or 5065e would be needed. I thought 22,000 was a bit high for the 5045e, but I don't desire to invest that much money in a tractor, and find out it is lacking in a place I need. 30 in diameter oak logs, and some even larger, up to 20ft, of course I can cut them up smaller in length, but your insight is appreciated, thanks.... I had looked at the 2600 series from Massey Ferguson, anyone know if the massey ferguson's have the low end. I like the JD's though..
