I have a 501 sickle mower. Already used it this year to cut three acres of coastal hay. Sometime during the process i broke one of the blades. Never fixed one so started to read the forums. I was able to figure out how to get blade out. Pretty easy. Ground down the rivets and was able to get the old rivets out and remove blade. Here's the tech Question. The new blades that i bought from TSC are slightly higher than the old blade. The old Blade is 2mm high. The new blade is 3mm high. I know this is not going to effect the cutting side because the base will be equal. What i would like to know is on the top side the knife clips holding it down are sliding on this blade and two others that are smaller. So the question is will this effect the balde sliding back in forth or will the knife clip somehow get over that 1mm differance. As of right now, i think to fix it would be to change the 3 blades that the knife clips slide on. What do you guys think?
