JD 48 & new 49 series Backhoes. Note the 48 series is for many JD 4000 Compacts and JD5x05 Advantage Utility's series tractors...

John It seems that the 49 backhoe is very close to the spec's of the 10A which was avalible for the 5000 ten series.I wonder if they just changed labels?

Thanks for posting the info.

Is the 5510 not making it to the 5520? One of the sheets said that the hp range was from 45 to 68 hp. The 5420 would be 65 and wouldn't the 5520 be 75hp?

The EPA is become more restrictive on diesel emissions in 2003 I think. Could be part of the hp numbers?

Have thought that when I get to do this a 55 would be preferred over the 54 to run a big baler. I think the 54 would run a big baler tho. My neighbor runs a 6200 which I think is 75hp and it does just fine. 6000 series is about a ten thousand jump in price tho, I think.

When I was checking out dealers for a 5410 a few weeks ago, one guy said that they would be available to him around the middle of April, but he said that his info was that the change over wouldn't begin until April 2nd and he couldn't guarntee any date. I'm pretty sure though, that I priced a 5520 but he had a 5510 in his rental program that he was pushing. I seriously thought about the 5420 but couldn't wait until summer and they were priced between 1500 to 2000 more.

The 5000 twenty series are on my dealer lots here in Tennessee. I looked over a 5420 last week and it appears to be a slight upgrade over my 5410 in mostly cosmetic and/or ergonomic features. For example: both of the shifters are now on the right hand side and rubber mat floor board . From just looking it over pretty good I didn't see any changes of much substance. I didn't ask but I'll bet the price has been "enhanced" as much as anything.

i have ordered a new tractor 3 monts ago its a 5520 with bucket and cab with all the options.the problem is i dont even have a picture of it.i cant seem to find any sight that shows pictures of this tractor.when i try to see your atachement (probebly.pictures)they just dont open.do you know on what sight i can see pictures of this tractor?you can e-mail me at pepaik@lino.com my name is larry and im from canada thanks.
