I've had my DK35 for about 6 months, and managed to use it for 15 hours (I know, I'm really behind /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif)
The 4wd engagement lever was very tight when I first got it, but it has gotten better lately. I also agree with others here, sometimes, just like some old standard xmissions, fooling around with the clutch or inching it will help if it is really stuck.
