4600's pto not working?

Hooked up the bush hog to my 4600 yesterday and no pto? The dash light comes on and if you raise off the seat the engine dies like it is running. I have 12 volts to the solenoid. Ohm meter says I am getting continuity through the solenoid. A new solenoid is about a hundred bucks and I want to make sure that is the problem before I buy it and find out the pto valve is stuck or something worse. Any way to trouble shoot other ideas?

I noticed this was never answered. Maybe someone else has this problem and is searching. This is what I found. The rod that works the PTO valve was stuck. To fix. Remove your PTO solenoid. Pull the rod out of the PTO valve. Clean rod, replace and should work fine.
