I have officially given up on the 270 hoe. Looked at a Wallenstein hoe but either they didn't want to deal or they really like their stuff because it was 2K more than the JD 46. I have iMatch on my tractor now and I am wondering if you can remove the 3pt. arms with it still attached or is it easier to remove it first before taking the 3 pt. set up off?

I've got a JD 2520 and a #46 backhoe, and always remove the iMatch first. I do leave the top link attached to the iMatch. Next I remove each of the 3pt arms with everything attached.

Thanks! I guess my question was really an iMatch one...

I always remove the three-point gear separately from the iMatch. It goes a lot faster if you replace the standard cotter pins with spring hitch clip pins.

I agree with Runner, Pull the iMatch off the bars first and then it makes taking the bars off of the lower pins way easier. Get rid of the cotter pins. Seems like I am taking off and putting on my 46 BH all the time and getting used to pulling the 3 pt apart frequently. Can do the whole process in 20-30 min now. At first it seemed like it took an hour.

20 to 30 minutes! Wow! I guess I'm spoiled... I drop or mount my JD 7 in about 5 to 10 minutes.

Hi folks,

I can get the 46 off in about 5 mins but on usually takes about 10-15, depending on the flatness of the ground, to put it on.

Doing it at night is an exercise in futility. Figure at least 20-30 mins and a lot of talking to yourself in offensive words. Make sure no one of decent stature is around to hear you. Every time I get in this situation, I always fantasize about trading it in, ha ha.

I almost always do it with two people. Its so much easier, I'd say no more than 5-10 minutes. I just can properly see the attachment points from the seat JD 2305 and bh 260.

I believe JD actually suspended work on the 270 hoe indefinitely. At least that is what my dealer said. Something to the point they couldn't keep up with production issues with the new 1series.

My suggestion with leaving the iMatch connected would be to build you some kind of frame to mount to that will allow for a little play (to make it easier to reinstall the 3pt arms later) and then disconnect it as a whole unit. Maybe even hang it from a tree limb or something. Just a random thought going through my head.

The last time I installed my hoe I hung the 3pth assembly (arms, ballast weights, battery, winch, rear guard) from the beam of my woodshed. Just lifted it to max, hooked everything on a chain (at the balance point) then lowered the 3pth so the chain had the weight.
Made it a lot easier to re-attach.
