i have the R-4 tires on my 4410,as i mostly use my machine on hills i am always in 4WD and as long as you don't turn to sharp it won't tear up the turf even in 4WD.since my property is mostly wooded and in the shade it does'nt get a chance to really dry out and i have'nt had any problems with tearing the ground up.i do alot of 2 point turns to avoid it and have had success.my tires are'nt even filled

I'm not so sure changing to R-4's will solve your problem.
Here is a thread with plenty of coments from fellow TBN'ers on all 3 types of tires.

I have turf tires on my B2910. If I wanted to avoid getting stuck in mud I would change to R-1's. I doubt that R-4's would be much if any better than the turfs on my tractor.
