4370 Tier 3?

4720 Tier 3?

Could someone please tell me when 4720's were switched from Tier 3 to Tier 4?

I have tried searching, and have even found the EPA chart. Apparently it is not set in stone due to emissions credits, etc.

They were never switched. In 2009 is when they went to interim tier 4. Then 2013 was the last year for them. The 4720 replacement is the 4066R which has a tier 4 Yanmar engine in it complete with DPF.

Thanks arlen4720. So interim tier 4 doesn't have all of the emissions junk (sensors, computer controls, etc?)

I am just trying to figure out which year I should be looking for.

Right, interim tier 4 on those ( I have a 2012 built 4120 - same engine) is just they are made for ultra low sulfer diesel, no emissions junk on the engine.

I would look for a 2011, 2012, or 2013. There were a few design improvements with the hydraulic options available. The engines are computer controlled however (more so on the 4520 and 4720).

The later Models have the auto throttle feature which is a switch on the right fender that lets you set the hand throttle at a set rpm and it stays at that rpm regardless of the forward or reverse peddle position, or the auto throttle mode were if the throttle is placed at idle it works like a car or truck and revs up higher as you push the forward or reverse peddles farther, wich is a nice feature for loader work

I like that feature also, and anything 2009 or later should have that, but only on the 4520 and 4720.
