4310 Hot Foot

/ 4310 Hot Foot #21
Please do. I brush hogged and mowed for about seven hours today and now, four hours after I finished, my right foot still shows some effects from the heat. This is ridiculous. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Just got off the phone with Joe Ann (Customer Service) at Deere. She filed a case # 52778. She stated to me that since engineering feels that there is not a design flaw that they will not develop something to redirect the heat. In other words tough luck. If anybody out there has any help to this problem, please let me know.

Almost forgot--Deere said that I was the only one in the country to make this complaint. If you are having this problem please complain to Deere.

I thought you guys were a bunch of crybaby's... But my wife came in from mowing, and she thought her feet had a horrible sunburn. Guess I'll make the call...

I just bought a 4310 for mowing E-hydro. After mowing 2 hrs. the rubber mat get so hot it hard to keep my feet on it. I think this may be problem.

I talked to the area JD rep. They said there is no design flaw.
He also stated I could take the side panels off and that would help some. You need to complain to your dealer and JD. If enough people complain they may do something.

I guess I'll tape a thermometer to my boot. I would guess closer to 130 degrees.

Heck, sometimes here 108 degrees is not much over normal temp...Kyle

How much heat would you have to experience for it to get through a leather basketball shoe and heavy Thorlo sock and create a blister? I've had that happen. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Now with cooler weather here it's not as much of a problem as I'm wearing heavy steel toe work shoes. That'll be real comfy next summer. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I wonder what accounts for the difference in experiences. I've mowed for 2 hours several times with my 4310 and have not experienced any hot foot problems. These were on a hot summer day wearing sneakers. If it is not a design flaw, could it be a manufacturing flaw, e.g. slight variations in parts fit or bafffle placement?

The heat issue sounds a little funny to me, as well. I haven't had any problems brush-hogging for 4-5 hrs in hot weather (at least as hot as we get it in NW Washington!). Similarly, I run my chipper at 2600 RPM for easily up to 1 hr without moving any air around the tractor and never notice any heat buildup. This is on a 2002 4310. I'm wondering if they might have removed heat shields or something on certain serial numbers? Anyone notice if there is a mention of heat shields in the JD Parts catalog?

As I have said earlier my old 4300 gear had this problem but what I don't get is how some of us got tractors with this prob and others did not. I mean the motors are all the same and so are the side panels.

I wondered the same thing. I have a 4300 and while it may get a bit warm by my pedal foot , it never gets hot enough to bother me even when i wear just a pair of sneakers.

Oh if I wore my sandals as i normally do weed whipping and mowing i could feel the heat and it was hot. Hot enough for me to move my foot.

I was wondering if anybody still has this problem or has there been a fix?
I still have extreme heat to my feat.

My 4310 does not have this issue. I mow, run aroun the neighborhood and still no hotfoot.
