Hi, I need a little help so I thought I'd ask here before I break something. I need to sharpen the blades on my mower. Its a JD430 with a 60" deck. Problem is the bolts won't budge and I'm not sure if they're right or left hand threads. I can't budge 'em either way with a 1/2 inch breaker bar and don't want to put the impact on til I know for sure which way they turn. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I had that same tractor and deck many years ago. Also prettty much the same deck on my 755. They are standard right hand thread.

I would advise not using an impact, it could hurt the ball bearings. Instead, add a pipe extension to your breaker bar, 6' if necessary. You will find that the bolts will gradually turn, not snap loose. Use a 6 point impact socket on the bolt and a block of wood between the blades and the deck housing. You might want to invest in 3 new bolts with nice new threads and clean heads when they back out.
