When changing out the steering cyl do you have to bleed the air out of the lines before hooking them up? And if so, how do you guys normally do this?

Probably would make life easier to remove the mower, but let us know if you manage the job without doing that.

Understand, but which part is a pain? Maybe we can offer some tips, as the 425 has a pretty reasonable method.
Granted, my problem is getting down on my knees or kneeling which at 86 doesn't work so well anymore. But that will happen when changing out the steering cylinder too.

Oh I understand very well about getting up and down. What I have done is I have the 425 raised up in the front fairly high with a long pipe across the btm sitting on 2 jackstands. I them jacked up the front of the mower deck about 6 inches and blocked it up. Then I let the front of the deck down on the blocks and released the front hanger draft arm hopefully that will give me room to unscrew that one hose that doesn't have a swivel fitting and get it off and the new one on.
