JD 2025r
JD 4110 with approx 2 year old battery.
Last started it approx 1 month ago. Nothing unusual.
Tried to start it today and nothing. No lites or guages.
Battery was VERY corroded. Cleaned it up and charged it.
Still nothing. All levers (PTO etc in proper position.)
Any ideas before I go buy a new battery?
I did check call the cables and they are in good shape.

Thanks for your help.

Corrosion isn't good. Maybe sign of something?

Haven't had any on my 2004 4010 battery.

Used to get it on my Toyota until I bought those red and green felt washers that go underneath the post connections.

Should have the battery checked. Think Autozone and maybe Advanced Auto do it for you.

This may be obvious but check to see if the cables are tight. I had some serious corrosion over the winter on my 4010 cables. Almost ate one of the connectors completely through.

Opened the top and found all cells dry! Stupid me. Guess it would create some corrosion and not start.

After cleaning up the corrosion from the surrounding area, can I flush dry and repaint it with rustoleum flat black?

Absolutely. The battery on my 4110 leaked bad, so the dealer put a sealed battery in under warranty.

I'd flush and thoroughly wash the area that got acid on it and use Rust Reformer (from a Rustoleum stock place) or Rust Extender (think this is the NAPA brand). THEN spray with some Rustoleum.

My 4010 apparently came with a sealed battery. They didn't make it easy to get to the battery up there in front of the radiator. That's one thing that's greatly improved on the 2320/2520 models, possibly on the 2305, judging from some pics that some have posted.

On my Gravely, the replacement battery I bought for it came with those felt washers on the posts. I highly recommend using them. Has STOPPED post corrosion on my Benz and on my Toyota.

I regularly blow trash from the battery on the 4010 and wash the battery top on it and all my vehicles when washing under their hoods. Clean water won't conduct electricity. Dirty water or acid on top does.
