Re: 40\'x64\'x12\' Pole Barn

We ran out of Super Tuff-R (what I call insulation) so we did not get the entire roof on /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif. It was nice weather yesterday too. We did get about 50% of the roof done.

A shot of the front partially covered.

It takes some time with all the openings. I'm still waiting on my walkin door. I want one that opens out, so it had to be ordered.

Looking real good. I wish I was as far along as you. At least you have a roof. I'm still in the process of putting the OSB up. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I have one complete row on each side, as well as a few other pieces on the one side. With the time change and just my Dad and myself it is taking us awhile. Congratulations I know you are going to enjoy it when it is done.

Re: 40\'x64\'x12\' Pole Barn

Thanks Jim,,, and yes you are right about the time change. I hate it /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

When I had the house built, I buried a 4" black corrugated pipe to about where I "thought" I would build the barn. As it turned out, I was off a little. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I do not have a trencher or a hoe, but I do have a good size tractor that will dig!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I needed to go about 35' to connect the pipe to the barn. The tractor digging is done, now it is my turn with the shovel /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif.

I will be running electric, water, and a phone line through the pipe.

Re: 40\'x64\'x12\' Pole Barn

REDDOG:

Nice looking barn:

I'm thinking I've seen a few things from you before? I'm iN Jeromeville oh, been past signs for lancaster but can't think of where it is at now? what county? I'm in Ashalnd Co. anyhow here is pics of my place I had gootten started just 1 yr ago now. let the amish frame it and privide all materials from Kidren area. (big auction town!) anyhow it is pretty nice, but i have lots left, ran out of $ too fast when the job went south last fall about 2 weeks after starting the barn /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

anyhow take a look see at mine, all wood, didn't want the noise of Steel as I'm almost on top of higest point in county, lots of high winds and lightning too! anyhow you shouldn't run you're Water, Electric and Phone all in that 4" way not up to code. they need to be sepperated by at least 24" I belive. phone and water can go side by side OK, as the phone is low voltage. my trench was 4+' deep, with 4' solid tile at bottom for elec wires, and then 24" fill and waterline and sewer line back from Pump pit, (pit is not in yet) water line was flat but pump line come up pretty high near barn, for fall, only 1" to 10' closest to top of ground was about 6" but I'm going to back fill some over it later to give me more frost protection...

anyhow here is place

Re: 40\'x64\'x12\' Pole Barn

Reddog;

I hope you don't get a shocking feeling while setting on the pot reading the book and the wifie comes into shop and flips on the extra light! lol.

anyhow there is no codes here either, cept the fedurally mandated well & septic. the NEC (National Electric Code) does state how to to it right, there shouldn't be any major problems, but if you are running some juice and the phone rings you may end up having a lot of induced noise form the electrical interfearnce. running alarge Motor would definatly cause you some problems...

anyhow any wind damage down there? I lost 1 piece of trim fomr roof peek due to it wasn't installed right.

Re: 40\'x64\'x12\' Pole Barn

Mark,

It was windy, but no damage.

I buried my pipe, and decided to take down a tree that was a little to close for my liking.

Tree measured 42" around about 3' up from the ground.

Re: 40\'x64\'x12\' Pole Barn

I was pretty impressed. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Tractor did not spin, even though I was on the loose soil that I just filled.

One thing that always make me nervous when doing this is the tree giving out all of the sudden, or a big root kicking up under the tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I decided to take the tree out because it would make it tough getting the trailer behind the barn.
