Yup, without lights on the loader, there is almost always a spot where there are shadows...

Mike - Yep, according to the spec sheet I got from the dealer - they all appear to use the exact same engine - same size, *all* are turbo, and same rating RPMs. There may well be internal differences but Deere is going to have to do a lot of justification to charge a lot more between models if it's only an injection or turbo pressure setting.

Also look close at those brake pedals - it does appear to be a reverser - and there does appear to be a foot throttle barely visible. But note that those are now *bottom* 'hung' pedals - not suspended like on the 10 series. Not sure I like that - it looks like a big reach even for size 12's compared to just the toe tap before. Possibly less foot room as well. Wonder why they did that?

Richard - the spec sheet does say that the 4720 is hydro only - but note that is NOT the replacement for the 4710. It's 4120=4610+, 4320=4710+ (the plus is that these are the closest equivalent in power but the 20 series still have more torque and rise, and the 4510 equivalent doesn't exist). The new 4520 and 4720 are beyond anything the 10 series had. My dealer has earmarked the first 4320 reverser in as mine, that's already more powerful than the 4710 I was trying to find, but I told him to find out the price difference to go to the 4520 as well.

Robert - the engine hp I listed as the 'gross' hp. It does seem as if they are now listing just 1/2 PRO hp loss for the hydro. As usual, that does not reveal the drawbar loss however.

Ole Hickory - it may be that if the whole rearend is truely just a carry forward from the ten series - then the tranny/clutch pack is not up to the torque of the 4720. Which raises a potential question of how reliable these will be compared to the old large frame JD's with the power boosted this much. My gut feel based on the postings on this forum is that the large frame JDs have been considerably more reliable than the mid-sized units. Could be that the mid-sizes just outsell the large frame by that much but there appears to be a lot of 4710 owners here.

Still waiting for more details from my dealer... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Does that mean other 4x20 models aren't going to have a hydro?

All have Reversers or Hydros EXCEPT the 4720 which is HST only...

/ 4020 Series Specs #26
Ok. When I saw that the 4720 was hydro only, I was thinking that was the only one in the line to have hydro.

I am just forwarding the pics posted by a fellow toy collector (who post on a few boards as A Healthy Shade of Green) who works for a JD dealer in Canada. He posted all these pics on our Toy Talk board on http://talk.newagtalk.com/forums/ToyTalk/index.html

We get a lot of people in the ag industry that like to collect toy tractors so we usually get info (and especially pictures) quite quick there /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

We have extensive info, photos and specs, but must wait for the July 1st release date to post it. If we were allowed, we'd post it today. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif So hang tight.

Muhammad,

They really want you to wait until July? That seems like overkill on JD's part since a) the dealers are handing out the one-sheet already and b) they start shipping from the plant today /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Unless something really peculiar shows up in the series change it appears that I will "eventually" be the owner of a 4320 or 4520 - so I am really eager for any and all info as soon as it um... 'leaks' out!

Hey, isn't it July1 somewhere?!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

/ 4020 Series Specs #35
Yes, they have asked that the information and photos not be published until July 1. Of course, since dealers who get spec sheets and brochures put them online, our holding out on the release doesn't really accomplish anything except ensuring that we arrive late to the game. But they have their reasons.

The 4000 Twenty Series info we'll have posted on July 1 is:

- Model & Features Recap
- Manufacturing Facility Fact Sheet (lots of neat info)
- Full Specs
- Attachment Compatibility
- Loader & Backhoe Specs
- 15+ High Quality Photos

OK, I'm on a mission now for info.

The Deere site now has a 4000 Twenty Series section. Info is still minimal but it looks like a new "448" hoe, backwards compatible with the 4510-4710, is coming as well. Info notes that it can use buckets from the 49 hoe but standard bucket is a 12".

The "Build your own" section is up (at least minimally) as well.

List prices -

4120 - $23,198 + $1,200 for hydro
4320 - $25,252 + $1,000 for hydro
4520 - $26,999 + $1,000 for hydro
4720 - $29,626 with hydro.

Considering these now include the dual SCV standard they look to be a few hundred $$ less than the closest old models (compared by power). More than a few hundred more $$$ by Muhammads cross-reference.

Very few options listed so far - but I doubt the lists are complete. I noticed that even something like a 3rd SCV isn't listed for the first three models, just on the 4720. However price of that 3rd SCV is up 60% from the 10 series ???.
