4020 john deere

I just bought a 4020 John Deere tractor and when you hook up shredder and lift it up it leaks back down on it's own I can lift again but it slowly goes back down need help please thanks. Rwelder

I would think that it was the main cylinder leaking by.

There is a lever on the right just under your right leg (down low) when setting in the seat. Try putting it into another position and see what happens? It is load and load depth control lever. Ken Sweet

I tried to adjust load but it doesn't seem to make any differance

It is internal to the housing under the seat and is mounted more or less horizontal. You will need to remove the seat and the top lid (housing) section. This isn't a light weight piece by the way, a chain hoist is what I recommend for this job.

Do all 4020 John deeres tractors have this internal cylinder you can tell I'm just a welder

All of them that have a 3 pt hitch.

Is the handle drifting down also and your just repositioning the handle ?

How are you "I can lift again" ?

There should be an inspection plug on the right side of the rockshaft housing. If you remove this, you should be able to see the open end of the rockshaft cylinder. With weight on the draft arms, any leakage should be evident.
