4010 Compact leaking antifreeze

If I compare the picture I posted from the CD with your picture, it appears that the water pump casing covers that freeze plug area. So, I'd think that any freeze plug (the one shown in your photo) leakage would not be to the outside.

Thanks RalphVa. The water pump does not completely cover the freeze plug, there is a portion of the bottom of the hole that sticks out below the water pump. After visiting with the dealer/mechanic this morning he seems to think that it is a bad head gasket. So much for trying to fix this myself. I'm going to put it back together again and let them fix it. I would hope that John Deere would step up to the plate and help with the repair cost since it's only got 154 hours on it and it's four years old. Might have to look at blue or red next time........

Maybe worth trying some stop-leak before you go for major repair.
If it were me, I would put it back together and give it a try. Radiator
stop-leak is available at auto parts store. Good Luck elad

At one point I thought my 4320 with only 100 hrs was leaking at the head gasket (like your mechanic) but in the end it was because the suction from the fan was pulling coolant back from the leaking radiator. Further, it would take about 2 or 3 days before coolant would drop down to the floor from front of engine.

Again, the only way the real leak was found to be in the radiator was by pressurizing the cooling system. I'd pressurize the system to be sure prior to replacing the head gasket.

Freeze plugs for automobiles only cost a couple of dollars each. I think since I was this far into the repair I would replace the freeze plug instead of using stop leak. Some people place the freeze plug in the freezer for a couple of hours then place a large socket in the center of the freeze plug and tap it into place. This is of course after removing the old freeze plug by taping on one side and turning the plug sideways and pulling out, or driving a sharp pointed object into the center of the freeze plug and twisting the plug sideways and then extracting.
