40 HP Tractor Choices

Well, I'd just be moving bales around my 13 acres. Just need enough power to take the bales out into the pasture.

I'm leaning towards a 3720, but I've got a couple of months 'til I'll need it to mow. I wish JD had better long term finance rates. They're a point or 2 higher than NH and Kubota.

I'd consider something more in the utility line. A local dealer has a Mahindra 4530 with FEL for $22k.

I struggled with the problem of what is needed to carry round bales of hay... 1400 to 1600 lbs ...

I settled on a Kubota 5030 which is about 50hp. However I can carry a bale on a FEL spike and one on 3PH hay fork. I'd hate to be trying that with anything smaller. Proper counter weight is mandatory for a bale on the FEL. I handle/feed 100 bales or so per year.

I figured that to really move round bales I'd need to go with a larger frame (JD 4x20, Kubota Grand L, NH Boomer Utility). It' just that I have about 1.5 acres of woods that I need to mow around. Too heavy/rough to do anything but rough cut. I guess I could do some serious tree trimming.

Maybe I'll have to buy 2 tractors...I wish.
