4\' brush hog on a TU155?

Hi guys,
Do you think my TU155 would pull a 4' hog?
Fairly flat land, about 2.5 acres to keep under control.
I've been offered one and don't want to buy it if it isn't going to work ok. It has a slip clutch istalled on it already.

I'm not real familiar with the TU155, but I assume that it's about the same power, size, etc. as my TX1500 (15 hp PTO).

I run a 4' rotary cutter behind my TX1500 and it does fine with it. When I get into weeds that are too tall (like 3 feet) I have to gear down, but it still cuts pretty well.

Again, I'm not too familiar with that particular model but a buddy has a TU180 and he pulls a 4 foot hog with no problems. Every now and again it belches black smoke when he gets into the 4'-5' stuff. Other than that he says it is no problem.

Yes, the TU155 has the Mitsubishi K3C engine (900cc, 3cyl, 18.5 hp / 2700 rpm) and the sticker on the tractor says 15.5PS / 2500 rpm, which equates to about 15.2HP.

Do I need an overrun clutch?

I don't know if that model needs the over running clutch.

If you don't have it, consider weights on the front end. I have 4 x 45lbs on my TS1610. In some cases I think that is still not enough for my 4' bush hog. I may try more weight.

I don't know the weight of a TU155. But I expect it is similar to the older TS1610.

Yes, you need an overrunning clutch. It is not a live PTO.
