3rd Function on SA324/424

All third functions are diverters, no additional flow is created. If you are doing more than one function at a time, the flow will be diverted and divided by multiple functions. It is a matter of preference on how to use it, both work fine.

My "true" or "live" 3rd function valves kit from W.R.Long allows two functions simultaneously. I can open or close my grapple while also dumping or curling. It has three switch positions. An open, a close and a neutral. Some sellers and others don't mention or don't know that there are 2 types of these valves commonly added to operate some FEL attachments such as grapples. They call diverter valves third function but don't mention the true third function type. A diverter valve disables one function in order to enable another. A third function allows an additional function without disabling the other.

Interesting. The Yanmar kit is a diverter, where you push the button at the top of the stick to change the side to side action from curl to the additional function.

I have two attachments that I use it with: the Yanmar grapple like in your picture, and an angling snow plow. I can‘t imagine wanting to curl and angle the plow at the same time, but curling and opening or closing the grapple simultaneously would sometimes be useful.

I assume they would both essentially go at half speed if you did them at the same time, so efficiency-wise it seems the same as doing the two movements sequentially. Do you find that to be the case?
