I can guarantee that if you put a constant 16GPM through a 3/8 #6 port, you are going to cook the oil without have an extra oil cooler. Why they have that rated at 16GPM is beyond me. :confused2:

Ok, I will go with the bailey valve and the princessauto subplate. I have been looking into the needle valve option as JJ suggested and ran across another interesting possibility. I saw a hybrid series/parallel connection. I think what we are talking about is a straight series connection so that if the valves before are using all the flow this one gets nothing. With the series/parallel it looks as if everyone shares with the least demand getting priority and so on. Could this be hooked up this way?

Got absolute verification on which is the PB line. It is line 1. Now I am ready to order parts and post the install as I go. I am just waiting on an answer to the above flow diagram. If the installation of the hybrid series/parallel solves the flow sharing issue better then I want to do it. My guess is that it will require a different subplate.

Hmm. Silence. I am interested in exploring the option of a parallel hook up. What would happen if I split the pressure valve and doubled everything and left the PB line alone? Valve 1, the loader, would receive the same first priority as the third function valve.

Why all this interest in deviating from the normal hyd connections .

You can not normally parallel open center circuits. Two valve with priority, what is that?

Are you trying to save money or make it more expensive.

You can modify all kinds of stuff and make it work if you work at it long enough.

If you want to operate a grapple, then use either a 3rd function valve or a diverter valve in the FEL circuit.

I am asking because I want to learn a little more about hydraulic circuits. I understand water and electricity. I figured its essentially the same. I am looking to save money but really I'm looking for value. How can I get the most out of a one time installation. There only seems to be two options posted, that of the diverter and the series valve connection. When I came across the parallel option I wanted to understand it as an option before I choose. I like to explore all viable options before making a decision. I don't want to have to come back and undo or reinstall something because I didn't forsee all possibilities at first. Really I am not trying to make this complicated. I just wanted to understand a parallel circuit according to the diagram I posted.

And really with parallel all valves should have the same priority as they are not dependent on one another. If both valves were operating at 100% my assumption would be the pump flow would half at each valve. Would that burn up my pump? I don't know. Thats why I'm asking. Would this be cost prohibitive? I don't know. I don't know what I'd need. I would like to add rear hydraulics in the future. I am heeding your warnings about installation so I don't box myself out of that option later. The parallel option looked good because it seemed to solve that problem as well as the flow sharing between the valve problem.

I am exploring my options and asking questions. This is the time to do it...before I buy anything and before any modifications are made. I have been bitten by the "get it done quick" way. Hindsight then told me I should have done more homework. Unfortuneately my dealer is happy he made a sale, but its obvious he doesn't know much about tractors beyond how it comes from the factory. That is why I came here. I spent a lot of money on this tractor and I want to use it commercially. I forsee the need for a fourth function on the front. I am trying to leave me room for future expansion.

I just want to make the right decision for my needs. Thanks for all your help so far.

Well I don't see a lot of learning coming my way as it relates to a parallel circuit and its viability in this application so I am going to go with the series setup.

I want to choose another valve but I need a description of the type of valve I am looking for. The baileynet valve is stated as not waterproof so I need to pick another...one that is sealed. Am I looking for a 4 way 3 position? Double solenoid? Spring position? Lots of options that I don't know what they do.

What is the GPM of the valve you want.

It looks like 12 is the closest I can get to my flow without going under. My flow rate is 10.9 gpm.

Yep, that should work.

Hi, I just completed this on my 4530 last week using the same valve (different brand) that you linked in post #31. I haven't had a chance to take pictures or start a new thread about it yet but was planning on it since this seems to be a common add on, but I didn't have any luck finding others who had done this on our tractor. Looks like you are on the right track. I mounted my valve on the inside of the loader frame just below where the joystick frame bolts on. I was able to connect the power beyond with an 18 inch hose straight to it and I ran the grapple lines with the loader lines throught the FEL arm for a pretty clean looking install. To control the valve I used a Warn winch wired remote control. Good luck!

I'd love to see your install pics. I am all about a clean factory looking install. I am also interested to see how you mounted your quick connects at the loader. You are welcome to post your pics on this thread. I am going to document my install and put it in a new thread.

I just ordered my grapple but they are 3 weeks out on delivery. I guess they make 'em as the get 'em. :( At least that gives me time to do the install.

That part I haven't quite finished yet. I haven't found anything locally yet that I liked to mount the couplings. Gonna have to find something online I think.

Ok. I am having trouble finding a D03 subplate with 1/2 connections. Most all have the #6 3/8 connections. So here come my weird questions again.

Would going down to a 3/8 in the series with the PB limit or squelch my 3pt lift capability? I have to pull an 8' heavy duty cutter that weighs nearly 1400#.

What about doing this type of hookup? Would that have any negative consequences on the circuit?

hydflow.jpg

My idea is to let the 1/2" flow through the PB uninterrupted but T in the 3/8" subplate in a side loop and then back to the 1/2". Not a lot of extra cost by it would keep the 1/2 flow being reduced to 3/8.

If I go to the D05 valves which seem to be standard with the 1/2" the flow rates go up significantly.

You are right, I don't like the price. That's why I was searching for an alternate solution. One of the first subplates you posted had the proper connections and was $88 though it says it was for parallel.

That path of least resistance... you are saying that it will not take the path to the subplate as it will just flow through the 1/2 inch lines. I figured if it was under pressure that it would fill all lines and work. I can see how I might have a back flow problem but a one way valve would solve that.

I take it that reducing my lines down to 3/8 should not affect my lift capacity only my speed of the lift. Is that right?

I am not the first guy to do this. What is everyone else using? Do they just pair down to the 3/8 and back out to the 1/2?

What is the size of hoses used on your tractor?

What is the smallest hose in the series path from pump to tank?
