I put mine on the forks and let gravity do the work. Not so fast but it was cheap.

The problem is barrel tipping backward on any incline plus sloshing. The bottom rubber strap holds little. Put a web strap on the top.

I did the same thing except the barrel was on the 3pt carryall. It worked ok, but I had to get on and off all the time. It got old.
