While I am all for building my own equipment from sratch, sometimes you come across a deal you just can't pass up. I bought this row crop cultivator at an auction for $65, just because it was $65. It sat around for a while, but I wanted to plant some potatoes and was looking for an easy way to furrow for potatoes so I removed all the cultivation parts, bought 2 12" furrowers from agrisupply and used 2 spare cultivator shanks off my Farmall Super 'A' to make a 2 row potato furrower. I was so happy with how everything fit together and the cultivator was already made to accept 1-13/16" shaft attachments like hillers or old style Farmall cultivation equipment.

Next year this will get turned into a 2 row carousel type potato planter, but we just needed to get the job done for this summer so we planted by hand.

My next project hangs in the works...

Congrats on having the insight to turn your $65 "yard art" into multiple useful tools.

Re-purposing and multi-use are the hallmarks of farming and rural life.

Well done! Instead of shelling out big bucks for a new one trick pony, you're on the way for more of a "Swiss Army Knife" on the cheap. I like your thinking.

Is your next project a landscaping/grading blade?

Good find with the tool bar!
Thomas

Nope :)

That is another toolbar for my raised bed maker, transplant marker...I have more pics and will start a thread about it soon.

I have a 'T-bar' style toolbar and it has been handy. You can put most anything on the shanks; chisel points, shovels, sweeps, hippers etc. definitely a good buy. I use mine every year to lay out corn and potato rows and then again to cultivate the corn a few times before it gets too tall. With chisel points on I use it to rip my sons motocross track before running the tiller on it. I want to get some disk hillers so I can use it to 're-stack' my raised beds that are getting a little too spread out.

Great price on yours.. I paid more than twice that for mine.
