3pt Stabilizers

Stay bar pins have to be in alignment with the lift arm pins or things will bend or break when the lift arms are raised. Most implements need about 2” total side to side movement to prevent damage. Ground engagement implements such as moldboard plows need to have as much side to side movement as possible without the lift arms engaging the tires. Non-ground engagement equipment can have as little as 2 inches.
Check your operator instruction book.

Thanks Jerry - the LS operators manual leaves a bit to be desired in many aspects. This is one of them!

Agreed. Very vague and not completely understandable.

Don't understand tractor salesmen anymore. There are a lot of blanks they could fill in but don't.
Glad to help. Good luck.

I went by an LS dealer and looked over the other models very carefully. I found that my xr4046hc had the weakest setup of them all. right next to it was a 5065 and it had a strong screw type setup that could be set very rigid and still move up and down. it could be adjusted and then pinned to stay where it was set at. 20140525_121414.jpg20140525_121300.jpg

Thanks for the XR picture. That confrims they did make some changes from the R to XR series. The ball joint on the tractor side being the biggest one. The male part also looks to be shaped differently. Anyone bent the XR stabilizers yet?

Looks like the XR4046 is the same setup my R3039 has.

If there is zero play, any decent side load will bend them. If there is too much play the implement can get a running start before everything stops, and bends.

Or during movement thru the lifting arc -on some tractors the distance and therefore tightness changes for the turn buckles and in some cases amounts to using the tractors rockshaft to hydraulically bend / break the turnbuckles

just ading to sd455dan, worst case you can shear or break a bolt on the stay bar mounting bracket .
