3pt log splitter storage

Send the pic to doug and he probably would build the three legs for a reasonable price - I dont remember anymore how much more I paid with the splitter - wasn't too much.

It's 3" x1" U Channel with 1/8" thick 4" sq plates on the bottom of each leg. Then the Y stand is 1" tube steel.

With this vertical splitter, storage is no problem, when unhitched it stands firmly on any sort of surface. The ram can be unlocked and lowered so that you can clear doors and such.

Triguy1,

You could put wheels on the hitch pins, and roll it around, or hang it from the rafters or a log frame. Set two 8 ft logs in the ground and a log across the top, secure them ;and hang the splitter. Could also hang it from a tree limb and cover well. Cap all hoses.

Build a box around it and use that as a work table.

I set my vertical splitter next to the corner post at the back of our property & chain it to the post, so it can't tip. The control valve & hoses are covered with a cut 5 gallon plastic bucket. ~~ grnspot

With my limited space I like the idea of the rafters. Actually I already built a sturdy table out of some extra 4x4 posts that I had in order to set the FEL on over the top of the wood splitter, but it is tough to get the splitter hooked up when I need it. So far, the Stand with some wheels seems to make the most sense.

Thanks for the ideas

Jon
