Yesterday I took my gannon box off the back of my tractor, to use the draw bar to pull a trailer. Also, for the first time, I realized that it was connected entirely with quick disconnect pins, EXCEPT for the top connection on the 3pt hitch.

That was a bolt with a nylon locking nut.

While at the local tractor shops, I see the various 3pt items sitting around, for sale, also had the same top bolt setup.

WHY? Why not a pin all around? I don't see there being a need for the bolt, as it would be easier and a wrench free operation without the bolt.

I have pins with circle quick clips for both side and top link... Quick and easy, have nooo idea why you would use a bolt? Maybe they were concerned about slop??

Better yet get the black extra strong lynch pins at tsc .They don't get hooked on limbs and dislodged as easy.

I agree, ditch the bolt.

My Frontier BB has a bolt, but that works fine for me because I have a quick hitch and that may be why your blade was set up that way.

If your looking at something like this, the lower bolt (or pin) is for a quick attach hitch and is usually a bolt or welded pin. Gives the option to use either the quick attach hitch or the standard top link.

I just realized, I probably put this in the wrong forum. Thanks for answering anyway, and not razzing me.

OK, I was wondering if there was a REAL reason. There is no setup on this box for a quick attach, so it must have been what was available at the time.

Why the two different size pins? Are the 7/16" for the draw bar? Is that the normal size? It has no pin for the draw bar and figured I get one of those too. We do not have a TSC here, but do have a Farm Supply. I doubt seriously if they are that cheap there. NOTHING is cheap in that store.

The 7/16 lynch pin goes into the hole on the 3/4" pin to keep it from falling out. It is the same style of linch pin that you put in the little holes on the lower pins as well.
