I borrowed some ideas from some of the projects I've seen on this site and tweaked them to fit my needs. I made a hitch receiver for the 3ph that I can use to move trailers.

Tractor side view picture attached.

My sprayer tank carrier. This will slide into the receiver tube on the 3ph receiver, and back off when I don't need it. I attached 3" casters to each corner for easy maneuvering.

You can see in the first two pictures that I offset the attachement points for the lift pins and top link forward of the frame. Most receiver frames I'd seen have the lift pins and top link attachment point in line with the frame. I set them forward, and they are measured and spaced, so that the frame will fit into my Speeco quick hitch should I have that on the tractor at the time. My long-term goal is to modify all my implements to fit the quick hitch, then leave it on the tractor full-time.

The upside down "T" of the frame is thick walled 2 inch square tubing. The braces are 1" thin walled square. The pieces that the lift pins and top link attach to are 1/2" thick by 3" wide flat stock.

The sprayer tank carrier is made of 1" square, and the receiver stub is thin walled 2 inch square. Bracing is just some thin 1" wide scrap that was laying around.

I'm currently have the sharp edges of the receiver frame ground down and some primer on it. Haven't made it that far with the tank carrier yet. (P.S. the carrier will be holding a 25 gallon tank.)

I'll try to add more pictures after I've been able to get it all painted and pretty. Hard to find time to work on it with 3 kids. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Looks like a good set up. I used my modular sub-soiler frame as a base for some custom forks, etc. It turned out great, but your's looks neater than mine. Just a question, can you get the receiver hitch down low enough to just roll the spray rig platform up to the hitch? Also, do you have any other implements in mind that you are planning on adding to that set up (because I am always looking to borrow ideas!!!)?

That is a very good question. I haven't had it hooked to the tractor yet to see if it will go low enough. If it won't, I'll be grinding the welds off the casters, welding in spacers, then reattaching the casters. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The main use besides the sprayer will be a receiver hitch with ball to quickly and easily move trailers around. The only other project that I might look at is to fab a bracket for the reciever tube that could hold my electric seeder. That will be a cheap solution until I can afford a larger pto powered seeder.

Nice welds too...

Nice lookin job, you should be able to move a Mack truck with that.

Not all that familiar with 3PT's, but would a hydraulic top link get that low enough? Hate to see those casters leave! Great looking job!

I've seen enough people with these 3PH receivers why are they better than the draw bars that come on the tractors? They look like something that I'll have to make just because, but what are some of the pros to these?

The biggest advantage for me is that I can move my trailers around with cranking the jack up. If I am only moving them a little, I don't even get off the seat to secure the coupler, just get the ball under the hitch, raise the 3PH and away you go!

Plus the drawbar on my tractor is to low, the jack would not clear the ground anyway.

Super-nice design and workmanship!!

I'm wondering if the offsets couldn't be 3/8" instead of 1/2"? Would they hold well enough (relative to normal loads of course, like a 16' tandem-axle trailer, or a larger spray-tank trailer, etc)?

Also, were you MIG or stick welding?

Thanks Bowhunter.... great idea and good photos

I was offline over the extended weekend, but thanks everyone. I wish I could take credit for the welds but I can't. I design and cut out the metal for my projects, then let my maintenance dept. friend do the welding. It is MIG for those interested.

I have most of the paint on the 3 pt. frame so I should be done with it and have pics up later this week. I am now trying to work a deal to trade my old B9200 for a not-near-as-old BX2200, so I won't be able to lift as much, but I think this will still work for me. I think by just turning the lift pins to the inside it will fit.

For the poster that questioned the benefit of this over a drawbar.....the advantage for me will be twofold. Like another poster mentioned, with a ball hitch attached I'll be able to back up to a trailer and lift the 3 pt to move the trailer without ever getting off the seat. The second advantage is additional attachments that I can make and use in the receiver, such as the sprayer carrier showed in the photos.

Updated pics.

I leave this attached while mowing and I'm able to move the boat to mow where it sat without getting off the seat. Sweet. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
